is it ok to do this when hand washing clothes?

I want to buy that shirt, but all the reviews say to hand wash it because if you don’t it will shrink A LOT.
So would it be okay if i washed it by putting into the washing machine, but let it dry on a rack? would that make it shrink, or should I just wash it by hand then let it dry?

I can’t imagine that it would matter as long as you use cold wash/cold rinse, and use the delicate cycle. Good luck.
