What to pay a teenage baby sitter?

I have to take on some part time work this summer–4 or 5 hours at a time a few days a week. I have a 2-year old and two teens, but the teens will both be working full time themselves, so I’ll have to hire someone to take care of the little one during my 4-5 hour shifts (sometimes might be less). My daughter has two friends both willing and able to do the job and the toddler absolutely adores them; they’re both good with her, live within walking distance, and have younger siblings they’ve cared for and lots of babysitting experience. I will alternate using the girls as they have other stuff to do, too. I just have absolutely NO IDEA what to pay them! It’s been ages since I needed someone to watch a little one for more than just an evening out with my husband, and it’s always been family members sitting for free! We live in NC and the potential sitters are 14 and 15 years old.

I charge about $5.00 an hour for people I do not know!
But for people I do know I tell them to pay me for whatever they think is reasonable for my time…..
